Ms. Aikasha is wearing a Perry Ellis brown shearling motorcycle jacket, SameUnderneath lavender cashmere/wool blend button turtleneck sweater, an original Ms. Aikasha black wool lower side pocket skirt with side slit, Via Spiga tall black leather high heel boots and Tous leopard print hair calf and brown leather bag. Chunky purple/lavender bangles and mother of pearl cluster earrings tied this look together.

The energy today was a bit strange and I couldn’t quite put my finger on exactly what it was – but it made uneasy. So much so, I sent a text to all my children alerting them to ‘be aware’. I’m a strong believer in my Creator and try not to take even the most subtle signs/things for granted. They each responded, and I then felt a sense of calm J.

Note: My Via Spiga black leather boots are new! I got them last night at Nordstrom – I couldn’t wait to wear them!!
Tip: Who said you can’t wear black and brown together?
Tip II: Shearling – which is the tanned hide of a sheep or goat that still has a layer of the animal’s fur – is extremely warm and can sometimes cause you to ‘overheat’. I generally wear my shearling coats/jackets open unless the temps are in the teens.

Ms. Aikasha is wearing a Rachelle – the original leather store pony hair tiger stripe long jacket, Ci Sono cotton/rayon blend green turtleneck tunic, Ms. Aikasha black and green two tiered full pleated mini skirt, Marciano by Guess black leather peep toe platform booties, and an Adrienne Vittadini black pony hair handbag. Black leather gloves, black diamond design textured hosiery, and multiple green bangles accessorized today’s (a little bit over the top J) look.
Ok……so here’s my explanation for today’s outfit………
The skirt and turtleneck are a standard combo of mine…….the hosiery was a last minute addition – I was sorting through my hosiery drawer, saw them and thought: “Ooooh – these should look nice” and put them on. Ok – moving right along – I had to retire my little black booties that I usually wear with this outfit so I went for a pair of my peep toe bootie. Hmmm………a bit busy, but ok. I’d decided on my pony hair coat and handbag from the night before, but hadn’t really put the entire outfit together in my head. Time was ticking and I had to make my train (horrible habit of mine)……so as I threw on my coat to run out the door, I took a glance in the fully length mirror…..Uh oh…….but it’s “too late to turn back now”!! I think my black leather duster would’ve worked………..oh well – next time!!

Ms. Aikasha is wearing a Dana Buchman black/white herringbone tweed wool jacket with black leather trim, Population yellow cotton knit sleeveless tunic, Urban Outfitters black long sleeved t-shirt, Say What black nylon button detail leggings, Stewart Weitzman black patent leather platform booties, and Treesje black leather bag with gunmetal studs. Black leather gloves, 22 carat gold hoop earrings, coordinating bangles and a black fringe rayon scarf accessorize today’s outfit.

I had to take baby steps as I walked along the train platform this evening. I knew it was supposed to snow but there wasn’t supposed to be any accumulation! And here I am in 5” heels!! I felt a little silly – but……oh well……I made it home incident free.J

Tip: I truly believe that black leggings are invaluable. I highly recommend owning a few pair – they just come in so handy. They work with tunics, oversized shirts and they don’t bind in the waist so they’re uber comfortable. I love them!!
Tip II: I also recommend owning a few white t-shirts. They work with jeans, under a v-neck sweater, vest or cardigan etc., etc.

My Thanksgiving was Amazing!! I ate, and ate, and ate – and  have no regrets whatsoever!!  My mum, my sisters, and my daughters are incredible cooks. We all prepared a dish or two and made our way to my mum's on Thursday where we then proceeded to indulge. I also got some much needed rest, plus, I managed to get some holiday shopping done – so this was a very good Thanksgiving weekend.
It’s my daughter Oca’s birthday this upcoming weekend, and for her gift, she wants me to make curtains for her new apartment. We checked a few local places for fabric this weekend, but, nothing. So this afternoon, I went to a fabric store in my old stomping ground….Downtown Brooklyn!! Did I mention?……..Mission Accomplished!! I’ve got my work cut out for me, but I’m off to a good start.

Ms. Aikasha is wearing an original Ms. Aikasha long burgundy ‘knotted’ front wool coat, Sex, Love, Money mohair cropped sweater with rabbit fur trim, Elle Menno black wash skinny jeans, Rachel Zoe ‘nude’ snakeskin ankle-wrap platform pumps and Charles Jourdan croc embossed orange and ‘nude’ leather bag. Copper shoulder duster earrings and electric blue leather gloves complete todays look.

Well, well, well! Look at me! I got home today in the broad daylight……….and it was exhilarating!! I wrapped things up at the office nice and early all in preparation for this lovely and timely four day Thanksgiving weekend. Did I mention – I’m EXCITED!! I wish you all a very, very HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
Tip: Unless you're a size "2", cropped sweaters/tops has a tendency to make the body look a bit 'dumpy'!?! Therefore, I suggest streamlined bottoms (skinny jeans; pencil skirt, or biased cut maxi skirt). This makes for a far more flattering silhouette.
Tip II: Color Blocking - the perfect excuse for wearing multiple solid colours together - and getting away with it!
Note: I'm really loving this Charles Jourdan orange bag right now!!

Ms. Aikasha is wearing a  BCBGeneration army green wool ¾ length coat, Samantha Taylor sage green cashmere turtleneck sweater, O.N.L.Y Jeans green satin cargo skirt, Boutique 9 army green lace-up booties and Charles Jourdan croc embossed orange and ‘nude’  leather bag. Black floral fishnet hosiery, large gold batik fabric earrings and black leather gloves accessorized today’s military inspired look.

In preparation for the long Thanksgiving weekend, last night my daughter Mo, and I went grocery shopping – I got home just before midnight, fell asleep in the middle of composing my blog post and finally made it to bed by 2:30am. Needless to say, I was a bit of a mess today – just couldn’t really get my act together 100% - but I did my fashionable best - nonethelessJ.

Tip: I reiterate my love of textures. Sheer, shiny, matt, lacy, smooth, etc., even if all the same colour, when  put together - you almost want to just 'reach out and touch'.

TipII: A 'pop' of colour - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

Ms. Aikasha is wearing a Ralph Lauren black wool blazer with faux fur collar, Laura Biagiotti gold herringbone wool tweed pleated mini skirt, black/gold striped cotton/rayon turtleneck sweater, Na-Na gold leather cuffed high heel boots, and Coach limited edition gold leather tote bag. Black leather gloves, gold drop ball earrings, and striped textured hosiery finished off today’s look.

Well, Hey there!?! I hope you had a lovely weekend – mine was tremendous!! You know how it is when you’re just soooooooo productive, and everything just falls in line……effortlessly…….and you wonder: “Why didn’t I just do this before”? That was me this weekend and it’s set the tone for the rest of my week, hopefully the rest of the month – actually, hell - the rest of the year!!
Tip: There are numerous ways to “tie” an outfit together. The colours don’t ‘have to’ be exact (note the gold boots and the gold bag), but the overall outfit still looks very coordinated.
Tip II: While you want to look coordinated, you don’t want to look as if everything “matches”. That can be a bit boring. Experiment with textures (note: fur collar, wool blazer, herringbone tweed skirt etc.). For me, it makes getting dressed for work, just a little more fun!

I have a lot to smile about – so you can count on seeing my smiles each day I blog. However, I don’t have the time to say as much as I used to since I’ve been getting home soooooo late – still adjusting to the new train schedule since the hurricane. Also, there’s a lot going on right now so, I’m ‘juggling’. Plus - the holidays are approaching…….that’s a whole other story!!

Ms. Aikasha is wearing a Rachelle – ‘the original leather store’ long black leather jacket, Black Crimson NY heather grey cotton blend cable knit tunic, Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker heather grey cotton turtleneck, Patrizia Pepe grey suede quilted boots and Juicy Couture Ring Bling maroon leather bag. Wolford mauve nylon hosiery, silk burgundy paisley scarf (tied as a tie), gold/silver filigree earrings, purple/gold leather gloves and chunky coordinating bangles finish off today’s look.

Note: I love the way all the burgundy’s, mauves, purples, maroons……. all came together against the subtle shades of grey.

Ms. Aikasha is wearing an Identify cream quilted leather jacket, Moda International teal cashmere one-shoulder short sleeve sweater, an original Ms. Aikasha maxi black velvet skirt with sheer side panels, Manolo Blahnik BB suede teal pumps and Juicy Couture Ring Bling maroon leather bag. Silver link drop earrings, a black rayon/silk scarf, black leather gloves, and black and teal bangles complete today’s “a little bit dressy for the office but it’s ok ‘cause it’s my baby’s birthday” look J

It's a very special day today - my son (and relatively reluctant photographer) turned 17 - almost a man! My offspring and their offspring will convene at my house for pizza and ice-cream cake. So I will catch up with you all tomorrow!!
