Wed Jan 9th: Ms. Aikasha is wearing a Derek Heart black rayon ‘hole’ front turtleneck sweater, Younique blue double breasted (in this case double waisted) high waist jeans, Identify cream leather jacket with portrait collar, Patrizia Pepe black suede d’orsay pumps with silver ‘rocker’ studs, and her black suede Gucci handbag. Accessories include small pearl and silver earrings, and a mother of pearl pendant necklace.

Seems as if everyone’s catching the flu – and I’m trying so hard not to. Begin vegetarian, health conscious, holistic, and the whole nine, I don’t get the flu shot and have been blessed and fortunate enough to have avoided getting sick for the past 10 years or so – and quite honestly, I just wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I did get sick. I guess I better keep doing what I’ve been doing………….. :)

Tip: High waist pants are very flattering on certain body types - usually a medium to long torso wears it well. I suggest wearing a close fitting sweater/top with the high waist pants or skirt for a cleaner silhouette.

Finally! I’m Back!!  My IT guy is absolutely incredible and helps me whenever I need him. So, I’ve got Mozilla Fox up and running on my laptop, and I’m back on the blog scene.Since I have quite a few posts, I’ll take it easy on you and just do two at a time until I’m all caught up.

This is NOT a 'booty' shot - I'm showing the bow/zipper detail on the jeans

Tue Jan 8th: Ms. Aikasha is wearing a Michael Kors red down vest, Forever 21  brown rayon double breasted blazer, Moda International for Victoria Secrets white cotton French cuffed button down shirt, Energie white long sleeved sheer  t-shirt, dark blue jeans with zipper and bow detail, Michael Kors pale pink leather handbag and Via Spiga light grey lizard pointy pumps. A silk variegated brown/black/grey silk scarf, Coach black leather gloves, and pearl and gold shoulder duster earrings accessorized  cool, sophisticated, yet laid back look.

Tip: A down vest is invaluable and so versatile. You get the warmth of a down coat without the bulk. Wearing double layers ie: shirt/blazer or shirt/sweater - compensates for the sleeves - and looks really 'ca-yute'!!

Note: Since it's the beginning of the year and folks are gradually getting into the 'swing of things', my dress style will be a bit more casual - likely through the end of the month.
Mon Jan 7th: Ms. Aikasha is wearing Rachelle the original Leather Store long black leather jacket, Premise Studio black and silver striped rayon turtleneck ribbed sweater, a black pin striped wool blend pleated mini skirt with lace hem (I added the lace) – made in Italy, brand unknown, BCBG black suede/leather peep toe booties and Coach limited edition gold leather tote. A large Veda red pashmina scarf/shawl, large gold/silver tone filagree earrings, 14 carat gold rope chain necklace, and Cynthia Rowley black fishnet hosiery accessorized today’s look.

Notice how the 'self belt' is tied as a tie? It picks up on the 'masculine' pinstripe. I guess a bow would've been a nice contrast too!

Tip: Don't always go with the obvious. The silver sweater stripes doesn't mean the jewelry should also only be silver. Play with the metals: gold, silver, copper, bronze..........have fun with it!
Tip II: Horizontal stripes "DO" make you look wider! It's optical, but very relevant, so be mindful.

We had dinner at Trattoria Rustica in Montclair, NJ, to celebrate Nyasho's 23rd birthday

Happy New Year!!
Oh My Goodness!!….it’s been two weeks since my last post, and not for lack of trying. Granted, I don’t post much while vacationing (staycationing in this instance), but I’ve been struggling with a technical issue since last week, and this time it’s not because of my lack of knowledge. Seemingly, Google’s ‘Blogger’ is experiencing difficulty with picture uploads from Internet Explorer users – and guess who’s a user?? So, I’m patiently awaiting the ‘repair’ and as soon as it's up and running again, I assure you, you’ll be inundated with photos of my outfit’s over the past weeksJ.

Ms. Aikasha is wearing a peach coloured Triple Fat Goose down filled short belted jacket, Forte Cashmerenavy blue cashmere turtleneck sweater, Cellodark blue skinny jeans, Pollini dark burgundy knee-hi boots with metal disc embellishments (and yellow painted 1” heel), and Charles Jourdan croc embossed orange and ‘nude’ leather handbag. A 14 karat gold chain, oversized gold tone hoop earrings, and Coach black leather gloves accessorized todays look.

Though high heels are my favorites, I  love thess Pollini boots which have the cutest little yellow one inch heels. True - my feel look really long. I'm 5' 7" tall and  I wear any size from 9M to 11N - it doesn't matter to me what the size says, just as long as the shoe/boot fits, and is comfortable.......so don't get hung up on the size.

Note: As much as I love my fitted sweaters and dresses, this loose fitting Forte Cashmere turtleneck cashmere sweater just "falls" so nicely and is soooooo warm and comfy.

Tip: We (40everafter) sometimes have a tendency to 'overheat'. Suggestion: Don't overdress; wear layers so you can peel them off, and toss a knit 'skully' in your handbag for the rare times that you are actually cold.

Ms. Aikasha is wearing a black & white mini checkered poly Maeva trouser suit, Michael Kors  red down vest, Energie black velvet tank top, Louboutin black sueded hidden platform pumps and Roberto Mengoni large red ‘foil’ finished leather tote bag. A custom made flamed pearl and red glass bead lariat (necklace), silver ball earrings, black/grey leopard print cotton scarf and black leather gloves accessorized todays outfit.

As I walked home from the train tonight, it began to pour! I didn’t have my brolly so I wrapped my scarf around my head and steadily strolled home.

Note: Each full body shot shows how today's outfit subtley transformed

Ms. Aikasha is wearing an original Ms. Aikasha long black wool knit sleeveless hooded dress, Dollhouse flannel lined cropped denim jacket, Jean Michel Cazabat blue denim platform peeptoe booties, and a Roberto Mengoni large red ‘foil’ finished leather tote bag. A large red Veda pashmina scarf, long blue leather gloves, and large red wooden earrings accessorized today’s relatively laid back look.

I’m almost finished with my holiday shopping………..almost. I did most of it in the middle of the night from my lap top on Thanksgiving weekend – and I’ve been getting packages in the mail ever since. Hopefully I’ll get all the gifts wrapped on Saturday – I have nothing else planned. No more last minute wrapping at 6:00am Christmas morning! Not this mama………….been there, done that!! J

Note: ...........It's not that Red is my favorite colour (though it seems I'm always wearing it) - I just love colours, and just so happen to have a lot of red.

Tip: Denim and black is "hot" together. Denim and red is also nice. Three of them together?? hmmmmm!!
